Amanda Hochstatter teaches math and physics at a public high school in New York City. Her school is one of the most integrated schools in the city and has a strong special education program especially for students on the autism spectrum. She uses her philosophy degree to guide her thinking while designing curriculum that specifically addresses issues of race, socioeconomics, ability, and gender within high school STEM. When she is not teaching she makes the most of New York City by spending way too much time reading on the subway, but has also embraced the art/film scene and bouldering.  Finally, during the much needed breaks, she tries to spend as much time as possible in Puerto Rico or abroad.
