2014-06-19 15.53.28 (2)Rising senior philosophy majors Jens Thomsen and Sami Manick, philosopher Lisa Heldke and dining service director Steve Kjellgren presented a panel at the annual joint conference of the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) and the Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society (AFHV), held in Burlington, Vermont in June. Their panel, “Making Liberal Artisans: Eating Across the ‘Curriculum’ at a Liberal Arts College,” explored the ways in which food can be a tool and lens for doing the work of the liberal arts. Thomsen and Manick are currently conducting research about the role of food in the liberal arts funded by a presidential student-faculty collaboration grant.
